These terms govern participation, conduct, and legal responsibilities in the Urban AI Innovation Challenge.

1. Terms of Service

Scope

These terms apply to all participants, innovators, community members, mentors, reviewers, sponsors, and partners who engage with the program.

Participation requirements

Participants agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Use the platform and resources lawfully
  • Respect intellectual property, confidentiality, and privacy obligations

Submission rights

Participants retain ownership of their submitted work.

By submitting materials, participants grant the program a limited, non-exclusive license to:

  • Evaluate submissions
  • Display materials for review, learning, or program communication
  • Consider submissions for potential pilots or follow-on opportunities

This license does not transfer ownership.

No guarantee of deployment

The program does not guarantee adoption, deployment, funding, or outcomes from submitted work.

Any pilot or real-world use requires separate agreements and approvals.

2. Code of Conduct

Expected behavior

All participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect and professionalism
  • Engage constructively and in good faith
  • Support inclusive, collaborative, and responsible innovation

Unacceptable behavior

Unacceptable behavior includes:

  • Harassment, discrimination, abuse, or intimidation
  • Misrepresentation of work, credentials, or affiliations
  • Attempts to compromise platform security or integrity

Enforcement

Violations may result in warnings, suspension, removal from the program, or disqualification, depending on severity.

3. Indemnification

Participants agree to:

  • Use the platform responsibly and lawfully
  • Ensure submissions do not infringe third-party rights
  • Indemnify and hold harmless the program organizers and partners from claims arising from misuse, infringement, or unlawful activity

This provision protects the program and its collaborators from liabilities caused by participant actions.

4. Acceptable Use

You may not:

  • Attempt to breach, disrupt, or reverse-engineer systems
  • Upload harmful, malicious, or illegal content
  • Use program resources for unrelated or unauthorized commercial purposes

You must:

  • Follow reasonable security practices
  • Report vulnerabilities responsibly
  • Use data and resources only for permitted program purposes

5. Enforcement & Violations

Process

Concerns are handled through a structured process:

Actions may include warnings, suspension, or removal.

Appeals

Participants may request reconsideration if they believe an enforcement action was taken in error.

Escalation

Serious violations may be escalated to partner institutions or, where required, legal authorities.

6. Program Classification

This program is a skill-based innovation challenge.

It is not a lottery, contest of chance, or gambling activity.
